Video Youtube: Relaxa els teus ulls, relaxa la teva ment!(en translation)

Physical and mental tension is the main cause of eye problems. When the eye relaxes, the correct eye cells are used and vision is not affected. At Craniosacral Therapy we use a professional 12-step protocol to relax the eye muscles and the bony component of the orbital cavities.

Below is a video with three simple self-treatment techniques that anyone can do, from the Craniosacral Panizo YouTube channel and an interview with Meir Schneider, visual educator, therapist and pioneer of natural vision.

Interview with Meir Schneider, visual educator, therapist and pioneer of natural vision (interview by Ima Sanchís in La Vanguardia).

– Meir means “to give light”, a fantastic name for someone blind from birth.

And premonitory…

I was born with congenital cataracts, glaucoma and strabismus. After five operations before the age of five, both lenses were almost completely destroyed.

– No cure?

Dr. Stein, an internationally renowned ophthalmologist, the last to operate on me, declared my condition irreversible. I could only see shadows. I was officially declared blind, I learned Braille and went to a special school in Israel.

– It is obvious that he did not give up.

I never gave up on the dream of seeing. At 17, I was lucky enough to meet Isaac, younger than me, who had overcome severe myopia with eye exercises using the method of ophthalmologist William Bates, and who patiently taught me.

“What is this method?”

According to Bates, physical and mental stress is the main cause of eye problems. When the eye relaxes, the right eye cells are used and vision does not weaken.

“But from there to regaining your sight…

It’s about retraining your eye, using it as it works when it’s relaxed. Bates designed a series of exercises that I practiced so obsessively that I triggered nystagmus (rapid, involuntary eye movements).

“He kept going without giving up.

Within a year, I could recognize faces and see normal-sized letters by holding them up to my nose. Finally, I was able to get my driver’s license. Today, I have recovered 70% of my vision.

Explain some of these exercises to me.

They are based on nine principles. The fundamental one is that stress is the main cause of poor vision. Mental fatigue directly affects eye fatigue and both prevent clarity.

You have to relax your eyes.

Yes, it is essential to find time to look into the distance. If we look closely, the muscles tense, the lens becomes stiff and begins to degenerate. Too many hours of computer, mobile and television.

It is modern life.

Well, it creates problems not only for the eyes, but also for the back, but you only need to stop every 20 minutes to do a couple of stretches. Similarly, excessive use of prescription glasses (which emphasize a specific focal point) tires our eyes. Excessive use of sunglasses is also not recommended.

This will be controversial.

The eyes have to get used to different frequencies of light. If we wear sunglasses, our pupils become weaker, our nervous system suffers and we produce less melanin.

-Do our eyes produce melanin?

Yes, this pigment is in our eyes to darken the light; it’s like we’re wearing sunglasses inside the retina, and its shortage affects the rest of the skin. Two communities of Australian aborigines were forced to wear sunglasses and, for the first time, their skin burned.

-Interesting.

The vast majority of people with visual impairments can take advantage of sunlight to improve their vision. It’s also important to encourage the use of peripheral vision.

-We barely use it.

In the jungle, we wouldn’t last even an hour because today we only see what’s in front of us. One of the consequences of losing the periphery, of using too much central vision, is constant pressure and, consequently, glaucoma.

-Are we not doing anything right?

We need a revolution. Consider that 95% of myopia is acquired. You also need to get used to paying attention to details and moving from one to the other to avoid macular degeneration.

-Don’t continue… is there a cure?

Even presbyopia can be restored. The first thing is to learn to blink slowly and often, to breathe and relax.

-Why is the Bates method not known?

It was discredited; pioneers in any field are usually not welcomed, and it requires time and effort on the part of the patient.

-You have gone beyond Bates.

I had great teachers who taught me that the whole body is connected. If, for example, you have a neck, the muscles do not allow enough blood to flow to the ocular system.

-Does the way we use our bodies change their structure?

Yes, and we overwork some muscles and joints, while others are never used. If we stop moving even one part, the rest of the body is affected. For example, paralyzed legs affect the arms and torso. There is something fundamental that needs to be understood.

– You could say.

Our mind limits our ability to use the brain. The brain accepts restrictions and is programmed to the limitations that the mind has imposed on it.

– But you are talking about an enormous amount of work.

We are born with the power to heal ourselves; it is in every cell of our body, in every muscle, in every blood vessel… We go everywhere looking for cures for our illnesses, not knowing that there is a force within us with the ability to heal us.
