Resilience and a Japanese story

A Story

“When the Japanese repair damaged objects, they praise the damaged area using the left corners. They believe that something becomes more beautiful when it has gone wrong and has a story.”
The traditional Japanese art of repairing woven pottery with a strong adhesive and then quickly with gold is called Kintsugi.

The result is that the pottery is not only repaired, but also stronger than the original. To correct the flaws and defects, they are highlighted and celebrated, as they reveal the strongest part of the problem.
Kintsukuroi is the Japanese term for the art of repairing gold or silver lacquer. It means that by repairing the object in a damaged state, it becomes even more beautiful.
Transfer this image to the human world, to the world of contact with those who actually appreciate this as fan mal or ens fan mal.

Quant, I will also understand that the strong bonds and our Malmes hearts can repair each other’s broken love threads and become stronger. The idea is that when something valuable fails, a good strategy is not to endanger its fragility or imperfection, but to repair it with something that makes it golden: strength, service, virtue…
The proof of imperfection and fragility, but also of resilience—the capacity for recovery—is worth bearing in the air.”

Resilience and Craniosacral Therapy

Resilience is the ability to face adversity with great strength. It is described as the ability to recover from adversity and crises. It is a parallel from physics, describing the property of matter to return to its original shape or position after being deformed. It is a property of elasticity, tone, flexibility, and mobility.

As neuroscience has shown, the most resilient people in stressful situations have greater emotional balance and are better able to withstand pressure. We could say that it is a quality of inner strength and the ability to endure difficulties.

Resilience is the belief that an individual or team must continually overcome obstacles without considering defeat and that, even when the outcomes are against them, they must ultimately demonstrate exemplary behavior to excel in uncertain situations with extremely positive results.

This resilience is useful in situations of intense and sustained stress, such as unexpected loss of self-esteem, psychological or physical mistreatment or abuse, prolonged temporary illness, emotional abandonment, failure, natural disasters, and extreme poverty.

These are children with tremendous resilience in the face of abuse, in contrast to those who later experience enormous difficulties adapting to various activities of daily life (school, establishing lasting social relationships, family environment, etc.). They may exhibit excessive withdrawal or extreme aggressiveness, which makes them prone to being very vulnerable to others and projecting their feelings.

One could say that resilience is the most profound form of resistance. It is the ability to overcome a negative stimulus. Resilience is nothing extraordinary: this ability is inherent in every human being. The challenge is to develop this ability with a confident attitude and will depend on the resources we have and develop.

In a conflict situation, we need to ask ourselves the following:

  1. We had resources available at the time.
  2. We can activate and mobilize these resources.
  3. As therapists, we need to help the client easily understand the resources they can mobilize. My best experience in counseling is that we have all the resources and therefore don’t use them.
